How Do Humans Turn into Vampires on "V Wars"?
V Wars isn't a normal vampire story and that's pretty apparent fairly quickly when it's revealed how Michael, AKA Patient Zero, ended up turning into a Blood. While he was quickly cleared to go into the real world, despite Dr. Luther Swann's protests that not enough tests have been done to figure out why they initially got sick in the first place during their trip to the arctic, things quickly turned sour when more Bloods started to appear.
How did Michael get infected?
When Michael and Luther went up the arctic, they both ended up experiencing some cold-like symptoms due to being exposed to a new pathogen. While the pathogen might have existed in the past, it initially disappeared and was trapped in the ice, which has since melted. Luther and Michael ended up getting hit with the virus when they looked for Dr. Vercernis and Ava.
So what is the virus?
The actually virus itself hasn't been named yet on the show, but it causes humans to experience cold and flu-like symptoms including fever, chills, coughing, etc. After a while, the virus will leave their body and they'll stop experiencing symptoms. However, those with the NH47 gene will turn into Bloods or Verdulaks, while those without it will stay human.
How is the virus spread?
Just like any other virus, it's spread through contact with someone or something that has been affected or came in contact with someone who has it. This could simply be through touch or sharing things like food.
Can humans be turned in another way?
Although the virus is the main source of the Bloods and Verdulaks, humans can be turned the old fashioned way by getting their blood sucked by either one and if they have the NH47 gene. If not, there is a good chance they will die over blood loss.
